Authentication Requirement for Real Money Auction House

The real money auction house is now expected to be available on June 12, 2012.
In light of this, Blizzard is now requiring players to link their accounts to a Battle.net Authenticator or a Battle.net Mobile Authenticator in order to use the real money auction house.
In addition, Blizzard will also be requiring authenticators from players who want to transfer their profits from the real money auction house to their Battle.net Balance. They have also begun to require players to link an authenticator to their accounts before they can load money into their Battle.net balance.
Though this will add an inconvenience in the login process, it will also add another layer of precautionary protection, possibly due to the large spate of hackings that is currently being reported by a number of players. The real money auction house will be allowing Diablo 3 players to buy and sell in-game items in exchange for real life currency, hence it is very important for Blizzard to protect these transactions in the best way that they can.
This is because the feature will become an attractive target for potential hackers, who can make a profit off of other players’ time and effort.
Some players have already loaded up their accounts prior to the implementation of these new policies, but they will still be able to use their current balance without linking their accounts to an authenticator. However, they will be required to link to an authenticator if they want to load up their balance again and if they want to conduct further transactions using their balance in the future.
Meanwhile, Blizzard has now updated their Terms of Use to reflect these new measures, and players are going to be asked to read accept these new conditions once the real money auction house has been launched.

In order to use the Real-Money Auction House in Diablo III (which can be used to fuel yourWoW subscription), you need to have a Battle.net balance set up for buying and selling items. Because Blizzard is understandably concerned about account security, an authenticator ormobile authenticator is now required in order to add to your Battle.net balance. Transferring proceeds from the RMAH to your B.Net balance will also require the use of an authenticator. Full here
