Barbarian Build Solo Inferno Patch 1.0.4 – Whirlwind Volcano
Level Required: 60
Build thanks to EvilixGaming
As of Diablo 3 patch 1.0.4, the Barbarian Double Tornado build still works like a charm. It is an extremely popular Barbarian Inferno build but thanks to the class changes, we now have a bit of variety in terms of viable options. Today’s build will focus on Whirlwind but using a different rune for a more volcanic effect. It is a fun build that will surely be appreciated by the ones that got bored by the stereotypical Barbarian Builds. The Whirlwind Volcano requires some gold investment as the DPS can be increased with some Legendary items. Obviously, Whirlwind will cause fire damage and with the right kind of gear, the damage output can be boosted significantly. It is also a visually entertaining setup but more on that later.
Let’s start by having a look at the skill setup:
Left Mouse Button – Cleave with the Reaping Swing rune
Right Mouse Button – Whirlwind with the Volcanic Eruption rune
Action Key 1 – Battle Rage with the Into the Fray rune
Action Key 2 – Earthquake with the The Mountain’s Call rune
Action Key 3 – Wrath of the Berserker with the Insanity rune
Action Key 4 – War Cry with the Impunity rune
Passive Skill 1: Bloodthirst
Passive Skill 2: Ruthless
Passive Skill 3: Animosity
The Mechanics Of The Build:
To get things started we will need a lot of Fury. Since it is an AoE build, Cleave will be paired with the Reaping Swing rune for a total of 8 Fury generated per hit. Into the Fray rune will also make the Critical Hits to grant 15 Fury. This can proc during Whirlwind, extending the duration of the swing.
In terms of damage, fire based skills will be our main focus. We will have the Volcanic Eruption rune and Earthquake. Their base damage is fairly decent but with the help of some key pieces of gear, it can be increased by significant amounts. We will use the Legendary two handed sword Maximus and Magefist. These two items increase the final damage by 35% for both Earthquake and Whirlwind. Things go off the chart when Wrath of the Berserker is used. It gives a base damage boost of 100% meaning that Earthquake will deal 4000% weapon damage over 8 seconds without calculating the bonus from the gear. That means a raw 500% weapon damage per second.
The passive skills chosen are focusing on damage and Fury regen. It is a glass cannon kind of build and since the Barbarian is a melee class, life on hit is a must. At least 800 is required to survive in the middle of a pack. This is why Bloodthirst is a good passive skill to have if gear is not that great. It can be swapped with something else if there is enough Life on Hit. The other two passives focus strictly on Fury regen and damage. These two are mandatory for this Barbarian Inferno solo build. Without enough Fury, the Barb will become starved and Whirlwind will be used less often.
