Builds – Barbarian Co-op Hell/Inferno Ranged – Vikings Revenge

Level Required - 49
Build thanks to Gerudo.
There have been several builds that significantly changes the gameplay of the Barbarian from a melee class to a simple kiter like with the Sprintwind Regen build.
Lets have a look at a build we call “Vikings Revenge“. This time around the Barbarian will become a ranged weapon thrower dealing with the enemies from a safe distance.
Here is a quick break down of the skills that will be used in the build:
…
Left Mouse Button – Weapon Throw with the Mighty Throw rune
Right Mouse Button – Ancient Spear with the Rage Flip rune
…
Action Key 1 – Wrath of the Berserker with the Insanity rune
Action Key 2 – Overpower with the Killing Spree rune
Action Key 3 – Battle Rage with the Into the Fray rune
Action Key 4 – War Cry with the Charge rune
…
Passive Skill 1: No Escape
Passive Skill 2: Ruthless
Passive Skill 3: Weapons Master

The Mechanics Of The Build:
Not many have thought of using Weapon Throw as a Fury dump or as a DPS skill.
Two runes can be alternated for this skill. Mighty Throw is mainly focused on single target fights as it offers the biggest damage boost.
It adds an additional 30% weapon damage, making it the best choice for hard packs or even bosses. The second viable rune is Ricochet which can be used as an AoE skill.
However, it should be noted that Ricochet critical hits no longer generate additional Fury unlike Mighty Throw which still helps to gain this valuable resource.
This build works find a shield or two one hand weapons.
These two setups differentiate when comparing survivability and DPS. Two one handers will generate more DPS but it can make the barbarian more vulnerable to hits and even die more often.
A shield will just make fights longer but safer to handle. Needless to say that in both cases, life on hit is critical.
As we have seen, life leech is reduced by 80% in Inferno so there is no other way around it and life on hit is the only way to build a health regenerating ranged barbarian.
The playstyle will be significantly different from what some are used to. Melee combat is no longer desired since Weapon Throw is a ranged skill. Instead, the barbarian will be able to kite and kill mobs at the same time.
To make all of this work, the recommended DPS should go around at least 50k. With this DPS, the barb can solo pretty much everything. If the damage is lower, we should expect more kiting that desired and the fights will take too long.
Let us not forget that this is mainly a single target build and low DPS will just cause fights to extend to unreasonable durations.
