Builds – Demon Hunter Inferno Crowd Control Kiter – Entangling Ice Hunter

Level Requirement: 30
Build thanks to Drayon
Demon Hunters die very often in Inferno.
The only way to avoid dying too often and progressing through Inferno, the Demon Hunter needs a lot of avoidance, tactical abilities and means to crowd control.
Slowing abilities seem to fit best this description and need to be implemented into the build to make it possible to clear Inferno.
Let have a look at a build we call ” Entangling Ice Hunter“. This build centers around slowing your enemies, vault kiting and while blasting them with Elemental Arrow damage at the same time.
A look at the skills:
Left Mouse Button – Entangling Shot with the Shock Collar rune
Right Mouse Button – Elemental Arrow with the Frost Arrow rune
…
Action Key 1 – Caltrops with the Jagged Spikes rune
Action Key 2 – Vault with the Action Shot rune
Action Key 3 – Marked for Death with the Contagion rune
Action Key 4 – Companion with the Bat Companion rune
…
Passive Skill 1: Cull of the Weak
Passive Skill 2: Steady Aim
Passive Skill 3: Archery

The Mechanics Of The Build
Right from the start, Entangling Shot will serve as the primary slowing ability and in some proportion a decent damage dealer. Also, it provides and alternative for the frost damage of the secondary skill, just in case some monsters present some immunity to cold with the aid of the Shock Collar rune.
However, Entangling Shot should be used as a combat initiator skill. The main damage dealing ability will be the Elemental Arrow. With the aid of the Cull of the Weak, the damage is increased by 12% and another 15% from Archery for a total damage of 229%. To get an idea how important this skill is, Entangling Shot can hit only with a maximum 141% of weapon damage.
The Caltrops skill also deals significant amounts of damage if used properly. They can be placed in front of the door before opening it so that the mobs will pass right through them and receive 269% weapon damage.
Now for some avoidance skill, we have the Vault ability that can send away the Demon Hunter for a decent 35 yards. The rune modifier adds an additional 75% weapon damage as he run for safety. This will work in most scenarios but fast mobs will not stay away too long. Boots with 12% increased movement speed should help in such cases.
The Contagion rune makes Marked for Death viable for both bosses and Elite packs. Basically, it can mark up to three targets. The best part is that the skill is inexpensive to cast and it is spammable. It can be refreshed as many times as needed without any constraints.
Last but not least, we have the Bat that seems just as useless as the standard crows but the 3 Hate per second regeneration boost makes him the best companion to have. Elemental Arrows can be fired more often.
The three passives are pretty straight forward. They work excellent with a build focused on slowing and crowd control and there is nothing that needs explaining. As long as the enemies are slowed and they are more than 10 yards away, a 35% damage increase is applied.
