Builds – Speed Barbarian

Barbarian speed build

In Diablo 3 the Barbarian is no longer the undefeatable brute as it was in the previous installment of the franchise.

Below we will have a look at the Speed Barbarian. This particular build will work perfectly for normal and nightmare difficulties. It relies on a lot of movement in the battlefield and powerful AOE attacks. Let’s begin by having a look at the active skills.

Level Required – 40.

Speed Barbarian thanks to PCgamer.

Left Mouse ButtonBash will be used with the Onslaught rune

Right Mouse ButtonSeismic Slam associated with the Rumble rune

Action Key 1Leap will use the Iron Impact rune

Action Key 2Revenge will have the Vengeance is Mine rune

Action Key 3Furious Charge will be associated with the Merciless Assault rune

Action Key 4Wrath of the Berserker with the Insanity rune

For passive skills, we will have a combination of damage boosting traits and armor increasing ones as the build needs to be viable for Nightmare and some part of Hell.

Weapons Master will be used for the damage bonus

Ruthless for the critical strike bonus

Tough as Nails for the armor bonus

Check it out here.

In combat, the Barbarian will move through large packs of enemies with the aid of the Furious Charge skill.

It also helps to get out of difficult situations while Revenge wills degree of life leech. To be noted that this build is not great against bosses. It does not deal enough single target damage to make it viable in difficult fights.

It might work for Normal bosses but starting with the Nightmare difficulty, this build needs to be modified. For normal PvE grinding the build is more than OK. Certain survivability skills and the damage against multiple targets is sufficient.

When getting close to the end of the Hell difficulty, more armor will be required and a shield should be included in the gear list.

  1. Hey, awsome video!

I had some questions though. I play a 60 barb and right now inferno is kicking my ass. I dont want to use a shield and sword cause of the low damage. I use a 2 hander, and was wondering if the speed barb build in your video would work for inferno aswell.
    Thanks

  2. Hey Josh. The Barb can be great in Inferno but it costs hundreds of millions of gold to get there. I would suggest trying 2 one hand weapons with decent dps and good attack speed and a weapon throw based build. You will become a ranged barb with slightly increase chances of survival with lower end gear. As an alternative, you can look into the double tornado sprint build which is more for players that do not mind kiting a lot.
