Builds – Witch Doctor Solo CC/AoE Act 3 Inferno Farmer – Spider Summoner

Level Requirement: 53
Build thanks to kholdheart666.
There are a lot of good builds but none as fun as a spider build we call “Spider Summoner” .
It seems that Corpse Spiders is not a very popular skill but with some decent attack speed it can deal with the Act 3 Inferno monsters for some Azmodan farming.
Even with the IAS nerf the build can still work but more items with increased attack speed will be needed.

The Mechanics Of The Build
The main damage dealer will be Corpse Spiders with the Leaping Spiders rune. They will deal a decent 19% weapon damage per hit but the key is attack speed. Having enough of it can guarantee that there will be a good amount of spiders to do decent damage.
They can attack monsters behind doors, obstacles, around corners and in some cases, enemies that are far away, even out of the visibility range. This ability becomes extremely useful in Act 3 when farming Azmodan since the zones are very narrow and circle kiting is not possible. Spiders should be used to deal with monsters as far away as possible.
While the spiders can be used for both AoE and single target, an additional multi target damage source is needed. Lob Blob Bomb can be extremely effective when combined with Grasp of the Dead slowing down the mobs and adding a DoT damage effect.
The most important passive is Spirit Vessel. Death is a common misfortune in Inferno. Each time the Witch Doctor receives a killing blow, he will immediately resurrect with 10% hp. In this process, the 10% durability loss will not apply.
The gear required for the build will include a lot of IAS items. Because of the attack speed nerf, we will need IAS on rings, amulet and gloves. The weapon of choice should be a fast dagger. Ideally, the total attack speed should be over 2.0 attacks per second. This is easily achievable even with the IAS stat modifier reduction from patch 1.0.3.
Other than this, resistances and intelligence are equally important. Damage output is essential. The Witch Doctor is more of a glass cannon class. It will not survive melee hits. However, in order to survive ranged attacks, at least 300 to all resist is required. Vitality will not become a priority. Even if there is enough of it, the Witch Doctor will still die very often, making the investment into the stat not worth the bother.

You can’t get rings with 15% increased attack speed. 7% is the highest on a ring.
