Builds – Wizard Cold Focused Co-op – Storm Mage

Level Requirement: 55
Build thanks to pcgamer.
This time around we will have a look on a build focused on cold damage and a lightning signature spell called ”Storm Mage“.
To make it a viable build, the Wizard needs a weapon with a fast attack speed in order to build enough Arcane Power. To compensate the damage loss caused by a one hand weapon, the output needs to be increased through passive skills.
Let us have a quick glimpse at the skill setup:
…
Left Mouse Button – Shock Pulse with the Explosive Bolts rune
Right Mouse Button – Frost Nova with the Shatter rune
…
Action Key 1 – Ray of Frost with the Sleet Storm rune
Action Key 2 – Blizzard with the Stark Winter rune
Action Key 3 – Diamond Skin with the Prism rune
Action Key 4 – Storm Armor with the Power of the Storm rune
…
Passive Skill 1: Cold Blooded
Passive Skill 2: Astral Presence
Passive Skill 3: Arcane Dynamo

The Mechanics Of The Build
The main damage dealer will be Ray of Frost and Blizzard.
Shock Pulse serves as a spamable signature skill that should be used to build up Arcane Power. Cold Blooded serves as a damage booster. Since this is a build focused on cold spells, the 20% damage increase should be active at all times. Additionally, the Arcane Dynamo passive skill can increase it even further.
By spamming Shock Pulse not only is Arcane Power recovered faster but the damage is increased by an additional 75% for a non-signature spell. Basically, after 5 Shock Pulses, Ray of Frost or Blizzard can be used once for a damage boost.
This means that the Wizard gains 20 Arcane Power and a 75% damage increase for a non-signature spell just by using Shock Pulse 5 times which is easy to do. Damage mitigation is not great for this build. Also there is not much crowd control but if played with caution, the Frost Nova slow effect can be triggered in a chain by dying mobs.
