Diablo 3 Easter Egg – Lost TV Show References In Act 2

Blizzard seems to have a cool habit of inserting various references to movies, places and people in its games. We have seen it in World of Warcraft and now we have it in Diablo 3 as well.

This time, Blizzard decided to hide in plain sight a reference to the Lost TV show. If by any chance you find yourself visiting the Stinging Winds zone in Act 2, you’ll get to see the Black Rock. The shipwreck looks fairly similar to the one found in the show where the protagonists got hold of some dynamite to blow up a hidden hatch. Right in front of the wreck there is a dead body that will trigger some exploding beasts to appear. These mobs have a chance to drop some special pages called “The Black Rock Ledger”. There are 6 of them and each one has a different number. These pages correspond to the Lost numbers: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42.

There is nothing special about these pages. Apparently they aren’t used for any quest or crafting recipe of any sort. They only provide a short lecture about the adventures of the ship. However, these pages hide another secret Easter egg. The first letter of the first word on each page spells out DHARMA. This is a reference to the special research program mentioned in the Lost TV show.

It would be interesting to see if Blizzard will do something with these pages to give a more significant meaning to this hidden reference like the Development Hell secret level. Without a doubt there are a lot of players that enjoyed the show and will be thrilled if Blizz does decide to make something out of it. Right now, this Diablo 3 Easter egg hasn’t got much attention. If they do decide to do something it will become major Diablo 3 news for the community that watched the show to the end.
