Kripparrian’s Barbarian Build – Inferno Solo Cookie Cutter 1.0.3 Viable

Level Required - 60
In the first days of the game there were a lot complaints that Barbarians are not cut for Inferno, being way too weak to clear this difficulty level. Kripparrian proved that it is possible and he took it even further. He managed to get the World First Inferno Diablo kill before the nerf in Patch 1.0.3. Such advices coming from this elitist player are surely worth something and today we will look at his solo build for Inferno.
Let’s have a quick round up of all the skills he uses:
Left Mouse Button – Frenzy with the Sidearm rune
Right Mouse Button – Furious Charge with the Dreadnought rune
…
Action Key 1 – Wrath of the Berserker with the Insanity rune
Action Key 2 – Threatening Shout with the Intimidate rune
Action Key 3 – Revenge with the Provocation rune
Action Key 4 – Warcry with the Impunity rune
…
Passive Skill 1: Nerves of Steel
Passive Skill 2: Tough as Nails
Passive Skill 3: Superstition

The Mechanics:
Frenzy will be the main attack with Furious Charge as secondary. The charge will only be used as a panic button. It’s 8% per target life steal makes it very efficient when health is low. In Inferno, the Barbarian should have at least 40k HP to make it, rendering health potions almost useless. They have a high cooldown and provide little healing. Furious Charge can successfully replace the need for potions.
Wrath of the Berserker only goes with Insanity for this build. This particular skill can break the character out of difficult situations. It can be used to break a fear, stun lock or other movement impairing effect or spell that cause the player to lose control over its character. While it is active, Wrath of the Berserker makes the Barbarian immune to all these effects. Because of this, the skill should be used only for Champion and Rare packs that can be difficult to handle.
Against difficult packs, combat should be initiated with Frenzy for some Fury gain, followed by Intimidating Shout to provide some mitigation and crowd control. When things go wrong, Furious Charge can be used for some quick HP gain. Furthered more, in Inferno, Elite and Champion packs can have some really difficult affix combinations such as Jailer and Desecrator. In such situations, Wrath of the Berserker is essential to break free and avoid dyeing. It will also provide a damage boost that will increase the output by more than 125%.
Passive skills are straight forward. All the skills chosen are meant to mitigate as much damage as possible. Tough as Nails and Nerves of Steel will provide a significant armor boost while Superstition will mitigate 20% of the non-physical damage that the Barbarian receives. Also, the Impunity rune of the Warcry skill will provide a 50% boost to all resist, reducing incoming damage even more.
This particular build setup works very well with Act 3 and 4 in Inferno. It is meant to be used for solo play. A co-op build will have some different skills but they will be discussed in a future build post.
