New Diablo 3 Patch 1.0.3 Coming up.

Diablo 3 patch 1.0.3

A recent post revealed a few features that will be implemented in patch 1.0.3. Some of them are quite useful and some of the user requested features will be added.

Unfortunately, there was no official launch date for the patch but until then, there are tons of features to look forward to.

The very first issue that was addressed was the drop rates of items in Inferno. It seems that Blizzard noticed the inability of some players to farm Acts 3 and 4 and get the best gear in the game. This forced them to spend millions of gold on the auction house to get one piece of gear that they cannot farm themselves.

In patch 1.0.3 this will no longer be a problem. Items that can drop in Act 4 will also drop in Act 1 but with a lower chance. This is valid for all items, making gear of iLvl61, 62 and 63 drop in all Acts.

As we read further, it seems that Blizzard changed the release date for their redesigned Legendary item mechanics. A few weeks ago, a blue post stated that in patch 1.0.3, Legendary items would become stronger and there will no longer be Magic items that can be better that them. It seems that this change has been postponed for a future patch after 1.0.3.

Next, we have some changes to the Nephalem Valor system. Basically, the buff will no longer increase the number of yellow items that drop. It will only increase the chance by adding a guaranteed Rare drop.

Simply put, players will have one guaranteed Rare item when killing a pack of Champion or Rare monsters. Additionally, players will still get Rares if they kill a boss for the first time on a different difficulty. This mechanic was not applied before and players were getting mostly blue items.

Another issue addressed is the monster damage in both co-op and single player. Inferno Acts will be more balanced and the damage of the masters will scale better so that the difference between them will not be so significant.

Additionally, players that prefer co-op will see a change on how the damage and HP of the monsters multiplies. They will hit less harder so that they will no longer kill players with one blow when four characters join a game. Also, Blizzard will increase the cost of repairs. Dying will be much more expensive so Inferno players will need to be more careful or they will face bankruptcy.

Attack speed will also be nerfed. No details were posted but Blizz is planning to add a diminishing return effect. Details should be posted soon as the team develops a system that works with this type of stat.

Last but not least, we will see some changes for both the Blacksmith and Jeweler. The costs will be reduced greatly and the required materials will be cut down to a more affordable rate. Also, up to flawless square, gems will only need two inferior ones to be combined.

There are more changes on the way but the official post did not get into more details. So far, it seems that there is a lot to look forward to and who knows what other goodies are on their way.
