The Art of Blizzard Collection Coming Soon! 700+ pieces.
The Art of Blizzard is a collection of more than 700 pieces of art, including sketches and paintings, printed on over 300 pages of heavy glossy paper and packaged in a hardbound cover.
The book will be released in October 2012 for $75, although it is already available for pre-order on Amazon for a much cheaper price (gift wrapping is optional).
The artwork feature over two decades worth of creative history, from Blizzard Entertainment’s humble beginnings as a console game development studio back in 1991 to the release of their hit franchises Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo.
World of Warcraft, their massively multiplayer online role playing game, is the most popular in the world, pulling hordes of subscribers into a unique gaming experience that cannot so easily be replicated. The studio has generated their own sub-culture, is widely recognized for its high quality storytelling and world building both for the fantasy and the science fiction genre.
Blizzard’s Senior Story Vice President Chris Metzen, Senior Art Director Sam Didier, and Vice President of Art and Cinematic Development Nick Carpenter provide commentary and a behind the scenes tour of the inspiration behind these games, and how they were able to incite passion from their franchises’ millions of fans worldwide.
As of now, the only piece of art which is available to the public is that on the book’s cover. It has not yet been confirmed just how much of the art will be related to specifically to Diablo, or if there will be never before seen art as well, but more details should be revealed before the book gets released.
