Whats going on in the RMAH World.

RMAH News

It was to be expected that the Diablo 3 Real Money Auction House would not work flawlessly from the start. Right now, a few problems have been posted on the Blizz forums and most of them got answers from official posters.

Right now there are some taxation issues for the Americas RMAH. Blizzard seems to charge a sales tax which is not necessary for digital items. Blizzard is already charging a lot for each transaction.

There is 15% fee and a $1 fixed cut for the American game developers. In total they get $1 and 12.8% of the total value. This is somehow hidden in the TOS and many people have missed it finding out about it the hard way. On the other hand, the European Auction House seems to be a bit more bug free.

The Americas seems to have some issues with PayPal account linking and the help page for this process is very vague. In fact many players had no clue on what needs to be done until the actually attempted to list an items and ended up seeing a message that the PayPal is not linked or not defined at all.

Also, it seems that on the Americas server, the SMS confirmation is not working properly. The ones that use pre-paid phone cards will have a surprise seeing that the service is not working for them. An active subscription to a cell phone service is required. Europe on the other hand seems to have no issues from this point of view but players did report that they received the confirmation SMS more than once.

Las but not least, players seemed unaware of the waiting times required when funding accounts of confirming transactions. Blizzard does include this information in the FAQ but most users of the new RMAH seem to have missed it.
