Witch Doctor Blood Ritual is a passive skill that unlocks at level 20.
Blood Ritual causes 15% mana costs to be paid with Life. It also regenerates 1% of the Witch Doctor’s maximum life every second.
A Blood Ritual based build is perfect for the thrill-seeking Witch Doctor who is willing to inflict pain upon themselves in exchange for power. This passive is good for massive damage type builds who need to mitigate mana loss caused by casting powerful spells.
Though there are other skills that can do the same in a less risky manner there those who feel that these are just not as exciting as using Blood Ritual.
Alternatively, summoner-type Witch Doctors who are not expecting to spend as much mana, can also benefit from Blood Ritual’s 1% life regeneration.
Soul Harvest - Siphon rune also gives them 2171 Life for each enemy affected by the skill, which will fuel Blood Ritual even more.
Complementary Skills:
Spirit Barrage – The Phlebotomize rune causes 3% of the damage dealt with Spirit Barrage to be returned to the Witch Doctor as Life.
Big Bad Voodoo – Ghost Trance, A non-summoner might prefer to choose this skill as the other two choices for the Voodoo slot involve summoning pets. It increases the attack and movement speeds of the Diablo 3 Witch Doctor and their nearby allies by 20% for 20 seconds. The Ghost Trance rune causes the skill to also heal them for 5% of their maximum Life every second.
Pierce the Veil- This passive skill increases the mana cost of the witch doctor’s skills by 30% but also increases damage by 20%. It is a dangerous skill to use with Blood Ritual but if the witch doctor is careful, the damage boost could be well worth it.
