Wizard Magic Weapon Gives your Weapon a Magical Boost!
Wizard Magic Weapon is a skill learned by the Wizard at level 20, making their weapon magical, cutting deeper into their enemies.
Therefore increasing its damage capabilities by 10% for 120 seconds for the cost of 25 Arcane Power.
This is also one of the skills the diverse type of Wizards use, which would be effective when the need for physical combat arises.
It’s for those melee type of Wizards, the Battle-Mage, that want to get down and do things the messier way. Magic Weapon.
Since it increases the weapon damage by percentage then with higher weapon damage your Magical Weapon skill will be more effective.
Glass Cannon will increase the Wizard’s total damage capabilities by 15%, but in turn decreases defense and resistances by 10%, and coupled with Magic Weapon
Electrify will enchant the weapon with the power of lightning, which gives a 10% chance of discharging a lightning arc when the Diablo 3 Wizard attacks, bouncing on up to 3 enemies, dealing 10% weapon damage converted to Lightning. It’s a good way of dealing damage, considering that any attack will trigger it.
Force Weapon will increase the damage bonus given by Magic Weapon to 15%. If that isn’t enough, it will also include a 2% chance of knocking down enemies when hit.
Conduit will give attacks a chance of recovering 1 Arcane Power whe doing attacks. It’s a good way of gaining Arcane Power when the Wizard has high attack speed or is good at spamming skills.
Venom is good an excellent damage dealer, empowering the Wizard to inflict 15% weapon damage converted as poison to enemies hit by attacks over 3 seconds, which might as well finish off enemies.
Blood Magic will recover the Wizard’s life by 1.5% of her attacks’ damage, which is a fairly good rate since the damage by her skills have high damage.
What Flux thought of the skill thanks to Diablowiki:
One of the odder Wizard skills, seemingly designed for a melee fighting Wizard. We don’t know enough about weapon damage in general to have any idea if this is a big bonus or not. Nor do we know if this damage is boosted by attributes and +magical damage item modifiers.
If so it’s possible that some Wizard builds could deal very good weapon damage. On the other hand, there are enough limits on which classes can use which weapons that Wizards might be limited in their melee damage no matter what they tried.
The damage added is fairly minor, certainly compared to just about any spell attack, and this is purely of use for battle mages. (As has been observed on the known Diablo III legendary items, the amount of +%weapon damage found on gear is much lower than it was in Diablo II, and figures like +25-35% are the best to be found on even the Inferno-quality legendary items. Thus on that scale, +20% is a fairly big bonus, akin to something like +200% in Diablo II terms.)
